I have deployed traefik succesfully and can use it in heimdall to access my apps but when I deploy port guard my domain address no longer works and I have to revert to “localhost” to access them. What happened to my domain access?

Could we get some context? Ex. Ubuntu 18.04 Local

If it is a local installation make sure you have port forwarded correctly.

I’m on 18.04 and a local server. Unsure about the correct port forwarded. Please explain. As you can see, I’m a noob.

have you forwarded the ports from your router to the server i.e. 80 and 443 for traefik?

for sonarr you need to use the URL https://sonarr.my.domain.com. Just for clarity, the "my.domain.com" part of that URL is the internet domain name you have registered.

There is also a section in the lower part of the screen to give additional config and it is marked as (optional). that URL should be the name on the plexguide network, in this case, it would be http://sonar:8989. For that optional config you also need to provide the sonarr API. Please note that port guard disabled open ports on the public network, not on the plexguide docker network.

Other apps have this same dual configuration, and this allows heimdall to display additional information such as transfer rates and files remaining to be downloaded. Examples are sabnzbd, sonarr, radarr, qbittorretn, tautulli. Most apps however only require the application URL (not the plexguide network URL).

Please Note that If you have configured Oauth, then you will have problems with heimdall configuration. In those cases, you need to disable oath for that particular app (plexguide option 3 "PG Shield"). If you disable Oauth on a specific applicaiton, make sure you then configure that app with a login and password. Sonarr, sabnzbd, etc. all have the capability to configure a login account within the app itself to handle authentication to the application web interface. Doing this will prevent hacking of your system.

Ok. I’m with you on the correct domain name but what screen are you referring to in the second paragraph where there should be optional config settings?
I honestly don’t know how I acquired the handle “PG Specialist”.

When you configure heimdall for an app like sonarr (radarr, sabnzbd, qbittorrent, etc.) there is a section at the top where you put the application info and the URL. There is also another section at the lower part of the page that you can put an additional URL in that would be for live app data (like xfer speed).
