For some reason, this node got lost: https://plexguide.com/forums/introduce-yourself.91/ but added the reintroductions to the forums. I currently love PLEX and glad to have a great community with some awesome backing! I started utilizing Linux in July 2017 for the first time. Through extensive documentation with http://doc.plexguide.com; this is how PLEX Guide started.

I have a good amount of education, but always a passion for computers. I lived in over half the US, lived in Germany 10 years, stationed in Iraq two years total, stationed in Korea 3 years total, and truly enjoy working with a diverse community (yes to those of you who call me mate and say cheers).

My frustrations were trying to use Google Drive... stupid API ban and PLEX Cloud... well sucking. I had 76TB of drives that were just a pain to manage. With the help of the RCLONE community and PLEX ACD, I was able to start coding the project. As a noob, I got yelled for not knowing basics... like the screen command. I started to really ***dislike*** the linux pros because they are the worst for help, like with most things in IT.

Here is how bad it was - I was so bad at coding, I coded the guide through GITHUB for the first two months, and it looked like this:

My motivation to start understanding how to use Linux properly (good constructive criticism) - September 2017

Later Finished PlexGuide V1 (says v3, but its revision 3 of the doc): http://doc.plexguide.com

Version 2: https://github.com/Deiteq/The-Awesome-Plex-Server
Version 3: https://github.com/lnetto/PlexGuide.com-The-Awesome-Plex-Server/tree/Legacy-V3
Version 4: https://github.com/UnkleBape/PlexGuide.com-The-Awesome-Plex-Server

With the help of @Deiteq (for encryption and providing tons of code pushes and sanity updates) and @Jackalblood (for mentorship) @designgears (for getting tons of little issues off the ground), and @Datamonkeh for really getting the forums to start growing (was gonna scrap it).

Also @davaz for server assistance and to many others whose kind word keep me up much longer. Thanks again team! You are truly awesome!

Thank you for all you do. Thank you for responding to PMs, even though I'm sure you want to scream, "put up a post!" I really love, and appreciate this community. Maybe one day, when it gets big enough, we can all meet up somewhere, and I can shake your hand.

I remember seeing that post on Reddit - it was a little 'blunt' to say the least :D

The project has come a long way since that post, it's matured at a rapid rate (v20 by the end of the year anyone?) and more along the way something that wasn't on the road map happened, it's grown a community where people are happy to contribute in whatever way they can.

The unsung hero in all of this (apart from the hours upon hours that go in behind the scenes on actual software development), is your wife, I reckon we all owe her a thank-you for the hours you put in - either that or she owes us a thank you for the peace and quiet :D
