A new challenge for me...

Junior Member

I have an i5 PC at home with c. 20Tb of storage spanned across different SATA drives without RAID (I'm not worried about losing the content, que sera, sera).

Is it possible to run Plexguide to work in this environment? Main drive is 1Tb SSD, others are just 4 and 6Tb drives hanging off a SATA controller.

I'm thinking that getting the drives to "play nicely" will be the real challenge?

Ta a bunch!

Multiple drives would either need to work as one via LVM (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Logical_Volume_Manager_(Linux)) or you would need some custom settings. It's definitely doable!
Isn't lvm kind of dangerous in this case? If one disk is lost all data goes.

It could be worth looking into mergerfs (https://github.com/trapexit/mergerfs) then atleast only the data on the disk gone bad is affected. But it's implemented using fuse, so don't know if it has any performance issues.
